ABSTRACT
Present environmental problems vary based on sources and
outcomes among which the problem of domestic solid waste
(D.S.W) took on a universal significance evident in many societies
and countries.
Domestic solid wastes generate serious adverse impacts on
hearth and environment of the society which cannot be ignored or
overlooked since it is considered to be amajor source of pollution
that is present wherever human growth and activities are present.
Interests are mounting based on scienstific and applied environmental
sciences, planning and management disciplines to formulate integrated
environmental management plans to deal with the problem of (D.S.W)
through the adoption of the positive approaches to benefit from these
wastes through recycling and reuse and bouncegrowth minimize its
adverse impacts on the environment and society.
The present investigation reviews the internationally recongnized
practices adopted for the integrated management of (D.S.W) based
of which the possible future benefits of applying the appropriate
integrated means of management of the solid wastes are outlined.
The most important applications are recycling of domestic solid
wastes to reuse again such as plastic, glasses, iron, aluminum and
organic westes such as paper and organic fertilizer as well as the
potentiality of producing biogas as a source of energy.
